Number was left by the entrance to Quarry Wood, Cookham. I especially enjoyed this one because Chapter 31 of Odd Bird is largely set in this very wood. Quarry Wood was also the inspiration, apparently, for Wind in the Willows.

A very wet day indeed. I played footie (a thrilling 5-5 draw. We were 5-4 up until the last minute). On the way back to my girlfriend’s I parked outside the Essex Arms, Watford, hobbled inside and quickly nestled copy #4 in the porch.
